What We Do
Since 1946, we have helped Tulsa area families and individuals living with cerebral palsy.
Our Mission
In 1946, ten Tulsa women who saw a need to serve those with Cerebral Palsy founded Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association to inform the public about Cerebral Palsy and the needs of the individuals and families living with the disorder. In the beginning, these dedicated women focused attention on educating the public about Cerebral Palsy through lectures, newspaper articles, and radio announcements.
Soon it became clear that financial support and advocacy were the greatest needs. Insurance often did not cover the therapy that was needed to enhance the quality of life for those living with Cerebral Palsy and many adults and families were surviving on minimal income that left them struggling to meet many of their most basic needs. Fundraising became the principal way the group got its message across. The major fundraising activity was the Red Glove Revue. This professionally produced musical Revue featured many prominent members of the community and some of Tulsa’s most talented entertainers and celebrities for over 50 years. The Red Glove Revue became the centerpiece of the effort to raise awareness about Cerebral Palsy in Tulsa and the surrounding area. The success of the Red Glove Revue has provided the catalyst for the continued viability of TCPA as we meet the needs of those in our community that are living with Cerebral Palsy.
In the more than 75 years this organization has served this population, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been provided to those in need in Tulsa and the surrounding area. Throughout the years Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association (TCPA) has been the catalyst for many programs and services to support this population. Children and adults alike benefit from the efforts of this group and, for many, the support from TCPA has made the difference in them being able to live a quality life.
Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
